This is the first 16th century-style dress I constructed. The photo on the left was
taken at Summits Investiture. The photos above were taken out in the field at home.
The fabric used to make this dress was green cotton broadcloth
purchased at WalMart for $1 a yard. The puffs at the shoulders are
faked, meaning, they're sewn into the dress. The collar part, called a
partlet, is separate. The skirt and bodice are held together with
hooks and eyes around the waistline, and the fullness is achieved with
a bumroll and crinoline petticoats.
